The collapse of Thomas Cook UK has had no impact on the operations of Thomas Cook UAE.

Thomas Cook UK was once represented by Al Rostamani Travels but later became entangled with Thomas Cook India, which is not connected to Thomas Cook UK and is actually owned by Fairfax Financial Holdings in Canada.

The UAE operations have not been under the UK firm since 2012, according to a spokesperson for Al Rostamani Travels.

It continues to be business as usual in the United Arab Emirates.

Thomas Cook India’s managing director and chairman Madhavan Menon says that the whole of the shareholding in Thomas Cook India owned by Thomas Cook PLC in the UK was sold in 2012.

Thomas Cook India has not done any form of business with the UK-based Thomas Cook in the last two years after a mutual agreement to discontinue the part of the business where Thomas Cook UK sent tourists to India.

Menon says that there will be absolutely no impact on the flow of tourists from the UK to the UAE as chartered flights to Goa being run by Thomas Cook PLC contained only insignificant numbers and was not being handled by his company.

In a statement on the Thomas Cook India website, the firm said that it was imperative for people to understand that it has been a completely different entity from Thomas Cook UK for the last seven years.

Fairfax Financial Holdings acquired 77% of the company in 2012.

Thomas Cook is the oldest travel firm in the world, and its collapse on Monday stranded over half a million tourists all around the world.

The biggest peacetime repatriation effort in the history of Great Britain has resulted from the crisis.

In the first half of this year, Thomas Cook UK posted a net loss of as much as £1.5bn.

UAE residents who have previously made use of the services offered by Thomas Cook India have been sent mail from the company assuring them that they are unaffected by the events in the UK.

Although the collapse has had no effect on Thomas Cook India, one hotel in Ras Al Khaimah was partners with Thomas Cook UK.

The manager of the Bin Majid Group-owned Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort says that the news of the collapse only broke yesterday and as yet they do not know how their operations will be affected.

Bin Majid Group owns and manages the hotel, meaning that there has been an impact on staff members, and the hotel is now waiting to see what other impact the collapse may have on its business.

The collapse of businesses and the cancellation of flights is just one reason why it is important to take out travel insurance whenever you are planning to go away from home.

Travel insurance offers a financial safeguard against cancelled flights and holidays as well as other unplanned events such as illness and the theft of personal items while overseas.
