Yas Island Abu Dhabi, the premier entertainment and leisure destination in the United Arab Emirates, has finished off the year with great success, having swept up as many as 32 awards for its world-class developments, infrastructure projects and attractions.
The chairman of Miral, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarek, says that the company is humbled and proud to have international recognition for its excellence as another successful year comes to an end.
Ten years after its inception, Yas Island has again reaffirmed its place as one of the world’s top destinations for leisure and entertainment, with constant recognition from leading international entities in the industry for its developments and attractions.
Al Mubarek says that the latest awards are just another testament to Yas Island’s evolution into a local, regional and international destination of choice.
Yas Island plays host to some of the best golf venues and theme parks in the world as well as offering excellent motorsports and versatile hospitality offerings, with a number of impressive projects still in the pipeline.
At the World Travel Awards, Yas Island was recognised as both the Middle East’s Leading Tourism Development Project 2019 and the World’s Leading Tourism Development Project 2019.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which features the fastest rollercoaster in the world, was also named the World’s Leading Theme Park 2019 and the Middle East’s Leading Theme Park by the World Travel Awards.
The park also won the Park World Excellence Award for seasonal event of the year for Winterfest – its annual festive celebration – as well as Most Creative Property-Wide Event and Best Strategic Employee Engagement Initiative by the IAAPA Brass Ring Awards.
The park was also given a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor for the third year in a row, and the Theme Parks and Entertainment Development Awards named it Theme Park of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Middle East & North Africa Leisure Awards gave the park the Most Innovative New Product/Indoor award.
Yas Waterworld, the popular Yas Island waterpark with an Emirati theme, won the award for World’s Leading Waterpark for the second consecutive year, and the World Travel Awards also recognised it as the Middle East’s Leading Waterpark.
The MENALAC Awards 2019 also awarded it Best Water Park, and in April 2019 it became a part of the Guinness World Records for Most Nationalities in a Swimming Pool to celebrate the Year of Tolerance.
The World Waterpark Association also gave the park awards: the Leading Promotional Campaign for the ‘Water You Waiting For’ Annual Pass Campaign and the Leading Social Media Campaign/Activation for their Neon Nights Closing Party Campaign.
Voters were very enthusiastic about Yas Waterworld, with it winning Best Water Fun from the Kidazapp Awards in addition to the What’s On Awards naming it Favourite Attraction.
At the 2019 Mother, Baby and Child Awards, it also became the Gold Winner for Water Park of the Year.
