A recent survey has named Dubai as the top tourist destination for beaches in the world.

‘The 2019 City Beach Break Index’, a study conducted by price comparison website Compare the Market, which is based in the UK, placed Dubai as the number one global beach destination.

The surveyors came up with an initial list of the best destinations for tourists looking for beach holidays, and then looked at the factors that ensure that a great holiday can be had in such a destination.

A score-based system saw Dubai earn 82.71 over 100, which was far in excess of the 69.29 over 100 earned by Lisbon in Portugal.

These points were accumulated via a number of different variables that the survey took into consideration.

These included the average cost of accommodation, the average summer rainfall, the number of posts that the place generated on Instagram, safety, hashtag posts about the city, the average daily hours of sunshine in the summertime, and beach attractions.

All those factors led to Dubai being placed at number one on the list.

The survey states that there have been 85,618,865 posts about Dubai and Dubai beaches on Instagram so far in 2019, with the second-top beach destination, Lisbon, having just 8,423,239 such posts.

The purpose of the index was to try to identify the world’s best beach locale, according to the UK website.

The website says that while Dubai already has a reputation as a luxury travel destination, it also plays host to many miles of beautiful sandy beaches on the warm Persian Gulf, making it a genuine tropical resort destination.

Although some beaches are associated with hotels or luxury residential communities, the United Arab Emirates government has ensured that there are still a large number of beautiful beaches open to the general public.

The months taken into account for Northern Hemisphere countries were June, July and August, with December, January and February chosen for nations in the Southern Hemisphere.

The surveyed nations’ accommodation costs were taken from Kayak travel guides, with TripAdvisor used to total up the number of attractions listed in each city.

There are a number of fantastic beaches open to tourists in Dubai.

These beaches include JBR Open Beach, Jumeirah Beach Park and Umm Suqeim Beach, among many others.

JBR Open Beach is the largest beach in Dubai, with complete facilities at regular intervals and a number of food outlets.

Lifeguards patrol the beach, and there are many places to rent bikes and scooters or water toys.

Jumeirah Beach Park is a designed beach recreation area and park near to Downtown Dubai.

It features green grass, terraced levels and palm trees, with a nominal charge for admission.

Umm Suqeim Beach is a flat, wide beach close to the location of the Burj and offers a handful of services such as basic facilities and lifeguards.

Anyone travelling to Dubai for its beaches or any other reason should take out travel insurance prior to the trip.

Travel insurance protects travellers from the financial loss that can occur in the event of cancelled flights or stolen personal items.
